Carifta Games: Jamaica leads medals early
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Defending champions Jamaica were off to an easy start at the 49th Carifta Games with two medals, gold and silver, after the first session at the National Stadium in Kingston this morning.
Three finals were contested in the opening session, all in the field events, the Under-17 girls’ high jump and shot put, and Under-20 boys’ javelin.
The British Virgin Island and The Bahamas also won two medals, gold and a bronze each, Trinidad and Tobago won two silver medals and Grenada won a bronze.
The Championships will continue this afternoon with another 17 finals set to be decided.
