WATCH: Residents stage protest after senior citizen killed by mob in Mandeville
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — Residents of Victoria Town in South Manchester have blocked sections of the main road in their community as they protest Friday’s mob killing of a man they describe as a community leader.
The deceased has been identified as Chiefton Campbell.
Campbell died as a result of wounds he sustained after he was beaten by a crowd of people on lower Manchester Road.
Police said the crowd accused Campbell of robbery.

However, residents say Campbell was a well-respected community member.
Audrey Pinnock-Gosse, a resident of the community, said Campbell was a decent citizen.
“From that man born until now, I don’t know (of him) being a criminal. He is a decent citizen and just buried his mother about a month ago,” she said.
“It is so saddening to see how they beat him and kill him. Mr Campbell don’t deserve that death,” she added.
The residents are demanding justice and have threatened to take their protest to Mandeville if their concerns are not addressed.
