107 new COVID-19 cases in Jamaica, two deaths reported
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Ministry of Health and Wellness reported 107 new COVID-19 cases and two deaths on Monday, May 9, bringing the infection total to 131,434 and total deaths to 2,982.
The new cases comprise 56 females and 51 males, with ages ranging from three years to 88 years.
The cases were recorded in St James (36), Westmoreland (25), Kingston and St Andrew (18), Trelawny (10), Clarendon and St Ann (five each), St Catherine (four), Hanover (three) and St Thomas (one).
The deceased are two females from St Catherine ages 80 and 43, who died in March and June 2021 respectively.
There were 89 recoveries in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 84,603.
Currently, 57 people are hospitalised, nine of whom are moderately ill and two critically ill.
Jamaica’s positivity rate for the latest round of testing is 20.8 per cent.
