110 new COVID-19 cases, five more deaths
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica on Tuesday reported 110 new cases of the COVID-19 and five virus-related deaths in the last 24-hour period.
This brings the total number of cases recorded on the island since the start of the pandemic to 131,544 and the death toll to 2,987.
Of the newly reported cases, there were 74 females and 36 males with ages ranging from one day to 108 years.
The cases were recorded in Kingston and St Andrew (27), St James (28), St Ann (13), St Catherine (eight), Westmoreland (21), Hanover (six), St Elizabeth (one), St Mary (three), Clarendon (two), and Manchester (one).
Meanwhile, the latest fatalities are:
1. A 59-year-old male from St Catherine, who died in March 2021
2. A 32-year-old female from Westmoreland
3. A 51-year-old female, who died in August 2021
4. 72-year-old female from St Catherine, who died in August 2021
5. An 81-year-old female from St Catherine, who died in September 2021
According to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Health and Wellness, the country also recorded 106 new recoveries, bringing the total number of recoveries to 84,709.
The country’s positivity rate from the latest batch of testing now stands at 13.8 per cent.
There are 1,454 confirmed active cases on the island.
Approximately 70 patients are hospitalised, two of them are critically ill.
