Harbour View FC are back in the top six of the Jamaica Premier League, thanks to a 2-0 win over former champions Portmore United at the Stadium East Field on Sunday — and their Assistant Coach Sean Fraser believes that it is the minimum requirement for his club.

“A club like Harbour View shouldn’t be lingering in that kind of position in the first place, but it is what it is,” Fraser bristled after the win.

He thinks the players played to instructions which was instrumental in them ending a three game run without a win.

“We played to instructions. We know Portmore have a lot of young legs out there. We knew that they were going to come and run and we got a goal that was very, very crucial in the 45th minute. That kind of goal can kill any team,” he said.

He was pleased that his team was able to keep the youthful Portmore team at bay in the second half.

“We rode that momentum into the second half. Portmore came out on the front foot again, running and running but experience told.

Fraser was at a loss to explain why his team had lost their last two games and drawn the one before that.

“We gave up eight points in the last three games. It was very difficult. The training sessions have been good, the players were motivated we just weren’t getting the results.”

It wasn’t the most fluid of performances from Harbour View but the man, who represented the club himself before becoming a coach there, was philosophical about the performance of his team.

“Three points, that’s the most important thing. Sometimes an ugly win is better than a pretty loss. We played well against Cavalier and still lost one-nil. So, for us it was about getting the three points whichever way possible and we got that.”

Fraser is aware of the teams that threaten their chances of making the play-offs, come the end of the regular season, but believes that as long as they keep on winning games then they will be the masters of their own fate.

“We have to take it one game at a time. There are a couple teams around us like Tivoli Gardens and Humble Lions…so we want to have our destiny in our own hands, so we just have to continue to win our games and we will be in the top six,” he said.

With the situation being what it is, Harbour View’s game against Humble Lions on Sunday can now be classified as a quintessential six-pointer in the race for the final play-off spot in the Jamaica Premier League.
