Market Bag: Prices steady; appeal for ackees at Coronation

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Food prices are mostly steady at the Coronation Market this week.

Among the prices shoppers should expect are $150 per pound for tomato, $220 for onion, $150 for sweet pepper and $150 for escallion.

Popular vendor Richard, otherwise known as ‘Bammy Kings’, says prices are generally reasonable at this time.

“Everything deh pon ah reasonable price,” he said, adding “Market nice now, everything cool and calm and nice… nuh problem nah mek so everything alright.”

He also invited persons who presently have ackees, which are in short supply at the moment, to bring them to the market to sell.

“Anybody out deh weh have ackee can carry it come, dem will get money for it,” he said.
