The thanksgiving service for Donald “Tabby Diamond” Shaw will take place at the Louise Bennett Garden Theatre in St Andrew on Friday, May 20. The start time is set for 11:00 am.

A public viewing for the former member of The Mighty Diamonds is on for today at Perry’s Funeral Home on Job’s Lane in Spanish Town, St Catherine, where individuals will get to pay their respects to the reggae singer between 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Members of the public are being asked not to take any photos or videos of the deceased in keeping with his family’s wishes.

Tabby Diamond, lead singer of The Mighty Diamonds, was among two people killed in a drive-by shooting on McKinley Crescent in Kingston in March.

Police report that the 67-year-old singer was among a group of people who were gathered at a section of the community when gunmen opened fire from a passing motor vehicle. Tabby Diamond was pronounced dead at hospital.

In a release, Minister of Entertainment and Culture Olivia “Babsy” Grange said the sole surviving member of the Mighty Diamonds, Lloyd “Judge” Ferguson, is expected to lead a musical tribute to his slain colleague at the service on Friday.

Musical tributes are also set to come from percussionist Bongo Herman; singer Carlene Davis; saxophonist Dean Fraser; singers Duane Stephenson and Leroy Sibbles, along with members of the Shaw family.

Fitzroy “Bunny Diamond” Simpson, who died days after Tabby Diamond, was laid to rest at the Meadowrest Memorial Gardens in St Catherine last Thursday.
