Teachers’ deaths troubling

Why would eight teachers die in such a short time? It’s too much of a coincidence. I’m hoping for a full investigation by Education Minister Fayval Williams. The common denominator is school environment. The sooner we hear what is happening the better. All teachers must be fretting.

COVID fifth wave

A fifth wave of COVID-19 is on, but hopefully we are better prepared than we were for the first four waves. There can be no going back to lockdowns and other economy-killing actions that only make matters worse. We the people have to start taking care of our health. Let’s hope that Health Minister Dr Christopher Tufton follows his own advice and doesn’t panic.

Monkeypox must not catch us napping

Speaking of viruses, we mustn’t allow the monkeypox to catch us off guard. It’s the latest virus to cause concern although in its early stages. It’s like the small pox but could still be deadly and they’ve seen it in Europe and one case in the US so far. If the health ministry, especially the CMO Dr Jacquiline Bisesor-McKenzie, is doing their job, they would have kept the pandemic infrastructure intact. We can only hope.

Unbelievable that police only getting $880,000 a year

The disclosure by Finance Minister Dr Nigel Clarke that police constables are getting $880,000 a year was shocking. We know that the academic qualification for joining the force is not high but shouldn’t we be looking at the job itself that they have to do? We can’t pay people $880,000 a year to put their lives on the line. Nutten nuh go so.
