Elaine Thompson-Herah breaks record at Rabat DL
RABAT, Morocco — Jamaica’s Elaine Thompson-Herah broke her own meet record after she ran 10.83 seconds (0.3m/s) to win the women’s 100m at the Diamond League meeting in Rabat, Morocco inside the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium on Sunday.
Without being pressed Thompson-Herah took over the lead from fellow Jamaican Natasha Morrison midway the race and ran away to win easily, breaking the 10.87 seconds she had set in 2017.
It was the fifth sub-11.00 seconds run for Thompson-Herrah who has a season’s best 10.79 seconds that she ran a week ago at the Prefontaine Diamond League meet in Eugene, Oregon.
Marie Jose Ta Lou of the Ivory Coast was second with a season’s best 11.04 seconds and Morrison placed third in 11.22 seconds, also a season’s best for her.
