KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica on Saturday reported 168 new cases of the COVID-19 and no fatalities within a 24-hour period.

The latest figures pushed the total number of cases recorded on the island since the start of the pandemic to 141,632. The death toll stands at 3,094.

Of the newly reported cases, there were 105 females and 63 males with ages ranging from 27 days to 97 years.

The cases were recorded in Kingston and St Andrew (40), St Catherine (30), St James (21), Portland (14), Clarendon (11), Manchester (11), St Mary (10), Trelawny (eight), Westmoreland (eight), St Ann (six), St Elizabeth (five), and St Thomas (four).

According to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Health and Wellness, the country also recorded 137 new recoveries bringing the total number of recoveries to 88,794. There are 2,190 confirmed active cases on the island.

The country’s positivity rate from the latest batch of testing is 25 per cent.

Approximately 131 patients have been hospitalised, five of them critically ill.
