PART proceeds from Saturday’s staging of ‘Real Rich Cookout and All White Party’ will be used to acquire two standing fans, a microwave, and a kettle for the Wakefield Police Station in Falmouth, Trelawny, according to organiser Courtney “Macky British” McIntosh.

“The police station was chosen this year after having dialogue with Sergeant Scarlett and seeing first-hand Detective Lawrence using a notebook as a substitute to cool himself down on one of those days when the sun was at its hottest. That was enough for me to make my mind up to donate a few standing fans to the cause, coupled with the fact than I’m the son of a retired police officer and also have a sister who graduated into the JCF [Jamaica Constabulary Force] about two months ago. So, there’s this will to better their working condition in any way that I can,” McIntosh told the Jamaica Observer.

The event is slated for Ali’s Place in Wakefield and will feature entertainment by Dwayne Pow & Pioneer, DJ Bad Boy, DJ Mizzy and Stone Love. There will also be live performances by Kuanna, Grim Boss, Don Scratch, Brixx, and Tej Dan.

This is the fourth staging of the annual event.

McIntosh says, like previous years, this one will be memorable for patrons.

“My expectations for this event [is that it] will be one of good vibes, good music and food. As always, we fulfill our patrons’ musical desires. We have had [a] few hiccups along the way in trying to get the perfect balance for this event. We may not have gotten the artistes we really wanted but the ones we got are equally impressive so I know Trelawny will enjoy Real Rich 2022,” the promoter said.

At the same time, he is imploring other promoters to contribute to worthy causes as much as possible — especially in light of the current state of the economy.

“It’s my opinion that promoters should give back to a worthy cause, especially when it is for the development of their communities. My community is a very close-knitted one where we have a home-grown principal at the primary school, home-grown teachers and police officers who serve the community and who are willing to help the youths stay on the right path — that way we have a better future for our children and grandchildren. So, whatever way as promoters we can give something back to a worthy cause, I am sure it will be greatly appreciated,” he said.
