Eroy tipped to take Hubert Bartley Memorial Trophy feature

Eroy tipped to take Hubert Bartley Memorial Trophy feature

Eroy, galloping out of the starting gates, clocked a fast five furlongs (1,000m) in 59.2 with four furlongs (800m) coming in 45.4 on June 11 in his last real work before his assignment in $1.05-m Hubert Bartley Memorial Trophy feature race at Caymanas Park today.

The American-bred Eroy, trained by Hall of Fame conditioner Richard Azan, showed in his morning spin that he is fit, healthy and ready to go, headlining 10 runners to compete in the three-year-old and upward Overnight Allowance contest going seven and a half furlongs (1,500m).

Eroy (Khozan–Golden Bucket) had returned to competitive race from a 182-day break on May 28 down in class at this level over seven furlongs (1,400m). Then Eroy, who was prominent throughout the race, came home in third place behind Double Diva and Prince Marshall.

With that pipe-opener, Eroy should now be cherry ripe and could put these away with the minimum of fuss.

Awesome Treasure, Amy The Butcher and Miniature Man are expected to make sure that Eroy is fully extended for his money worth.

The race, which honoured one of the former top-notch riders at the park, Hubert Bartley (deceased), is the 10th and final event on the card with a post time of 5:25 pm. First post is at noon.

Awesome Treasure, trained by Gary Subratie, regained some form on last when finishing second behind Money Monster in the Alsafra Trophy over one mile (1,600m) on June 11. With her well-being exposed, Awesome Treasure, who should be sharper for this trophy race, is poised for another good run. Of note, Awesome Treasure races with the visor on.

In her first run at this Overnight Allowance level, Amy The Butcher finished fourth behind Money Monster, Awesome Treasure, and Miniature Man in the Alsafra. Amy The Butcher should have benefited from that outing and despite facing both Awesome Treasure and Miniature Man here along with favouirte Eroy, she could put in another good showing.

Miniature Man should have won the recent Alsafra Trophy, but he finished third behind Money Monster and Awesome Treasure, some four lengths away. Miniature Man continues to move sweetly at exercise, clocking 1:06.2 for six furlongs (1,200m) with five furlongs coming in 1:00.1. He should be fitter and ready and could land a serious blow against these.

The field is made up of Bern Notice, Helicopter, Uncle Frank, Big Big Daddy, Denbigh Life and Out On A Limb.
