Though the usual Saturday morning craving might be for ackee & salt fish and fried dumplings, socaphiles and Bacchanal Jamaica faithfuls had a craving of a different kind satisfied on the Saturday, June 25, with the staging of Rum for Breakfast (RFB).
Jamaica’s oldest Carnival band whet feters’ appetites with the ultra all-inclusive party as they gear up for the 22nd road march through city Kingston.
The event unfolded against the backdrop of the rising sun on the lush lawns of Hope Zoo. The vibesy crowd was treated to music from soca MVPs Patrick the Hypeman, Marlon Musique, DJ Franco, Brush 1 [Chromatic], plus DJs Matt Campe and Tyler, as they sipped on premium rum mixes and brunched on fare from Grace, Elle & Vire (Hungry Jack and Foska Oats), Brew’d Awakenings, Soldanza, and Tortuga. Cooling things down with gelato were Happy Kones and It’s a Party with rum-infused snow cones.
