St Mary beat ‘St Bess’ in JCA 50-over
Champions St Mary CA progressed to the semi-final of the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) 50-over competition after beating hosts St Elizabeth CA by five wickets in Saturday’s quarter-final match at Manley Horne Park.
They are set to face Kensington CC next Saturday, while in the other semi-final contest, Jamaica Defence Force are slated to go up against Kingston CC. Up to press time the JCA did not confirm the match venues.
At Manley Horne Park, the St Mary team made 181-5 in reply to St Elizabeth’s 179 all out.

Earlier, St Elizabeth won the toss and elected to take first strike, but they quickly slumped to 26-4 before Kerry Holness, who top-scored with 35, and Damion Ebanks (29) lifted them with a 67-run stand for the fifth wicket.
Lennox Simpson (33) and Omar Samuels (24) added valuable runs in the lower order, but St Elizabeth still fell short of the 200-run mark. Tyrone Daley grabbed 3-15, while Jermaine Chisholm and Sheldon Pryce took two wickets each.
Daley returned to lead St Mary’s run chase with an unbeaten 59, while Anthony Walters made 25 and Pryce added 24 not out. Ebanks claimed 3-34 for St Elizabeth.
At Port Esquivel, Kingston beat hosts Clarendon CA by 117 runs after West Indies white-ball batsman Brandon King smashed 121 for the visitors.

In the encounter at Up Park Camp, home team Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) defeated St Thomas CA by six wickets.

In the other quarter-final contest, Ryan Francis hit 119 not out as Kensington CC easily beat visitors Westmoreland CA by eight wickets at Kensington Park.
