#WorldChamps: No medal for Jamaica in Men’s Discus
EUGENE, Oregon – Both Jamaicans, Traves Smikle and Fedrick Dacres, missed out on a podium finish in the final of the men’s discus at the Oregon World Championships.
Dacres, who won the silver medal in the event at the 2019 Doha World Championships, placed ninth, after producing a best throw of 64.85 metres. Meanwhile, his countryman Smikle, had to settle for the twelfth spot with a throw of 62.23 metres.
The men’s discus throw final was won by Kristjan Čeh of Slovenia in a championship record of 71.13 metres, while the silver and bronze medals were won by the Lithuanian pair of Mykolas Alekna (69.27) and Andrius Gudzius (67.55).
