Mr Connection hopes to connect
Mr Connection has been dabbling in the music business for more than 10 years. He started out as a recording artiste, then he ventured into events promotion.
He makes his production debut with the New Post rhythm. The project, released in June, features a mix of established and up-and-coming acts.
The project, he says, aims to bring back a positive vibe to the music.
“It’s full time now that we do something about the deplorable condition of our music industry. There aren’t enough songs being released that consist of substantial and uplifting content. Everybody waah ‘bang line and pop molly,” he disclosed in an interview with the Jamaica Observer.
One of the songs featured on the New Post rhythm is Custom Kill by 10Tik, which speaks about the highly publicised killing of a mother and her four children in Clarendon.
“It’s things like these we must learn from and realise that society needs songs to inspire each individual to strive to become a better person in life and leave the crime and violence alone,” said Mr Connection.
The other songs featured on the New Post project are Show Business by Ras Penco, Cash Register by Pretty D, Climb It by Pamputtae, Slow Wine by Delomar, Hype by Hazard Posh Gad, Darkest Dayz by Draybadz, Bang it Up by Lawzah Blazah, and May Day by Star Bwoii.
Mr Connection said it wasn’t difficult getting the artistes to participate in the project
“As soon as the artistes heard the riddim, they were ready to work with it. The project took a month and a half to complete and we are still working on adding more songs to it,” he shared.
Mr Connection, whose real name is Bruce Thompson, is from Spanish Town in St Catherine.
“From I was in my 20s, I used to produce my own songs and then I became a promoter which led me to producing songs. I produced the song Money Rolling which was my debut single,” said Mr Connection.
