#WorldChamps: Jamaica advance in men’s 4x100m relay
EUGENE, Oregon – Jamaica’s men have started their hunt to reclaim their dominance in the men’s 4×100 metres relay at the Oregon World Championships in the US.
The Jamaican quartet of Ackeem Blake, Kemar Bailey-Coke, Jelani Walker and Conroy Jones, contested the event in heat two and finished fourth in a season’s time of 38.33 seconds. Jamaica has advanced as a result of a non-automatic qualification spot.
Meanwhile, Oblique Seville, who placed fourth in the men’s 100 metres and Yohan Blake are two possible athletes to be added to the relay pool in the final.
Jamaica currently holds the world record of 36.84 seconds, which was set at the 2012 Olympic Games in London and set the championship record of 37.04 seconds at the 2011 Daegu World Championships.
The final of the men’s 4×100 metres relay will take place tomorrow, July 23 at 9:50pm Jamaica time.
