EUGENE, Oregon – Jamaica’s men’s 4x100m relay team at the World Championships will have to qualify for the finals without 100m finalist Oblique Seville who was pulled from the team Friday after “experiencing some discomfort”.

However, Yohan Blake, who withdrew from the 200m semifinals earlier this week, may be available despite also experience some discomfort, Jamaican media representatives at the Eugene championships were informed.

Seville, who was fourth in the men’s 100m final on Saturday, was originally named in the quartet to run in Friday’s 4×100 preliminaries but has been replaced by Conroy Jones.

The running order, the Jamaican media was told, is Ackeem Blake, Kemar Bailey-Cole/Yohan Blake, Jelani Walker and Jones. Bailey-Cole, like Seville and Blake, is also said to be experiencing discomfort.

Seville is expected to be ready for the final on Saturday if the Jamaican men advance from their heat.

Meanwhile, the women’s team was confirmed and will run in the order of Briana Williams, Natalliah Whyte, Remona Burchell and Kemba Nelson.

The women will face Canada, Ireland, Germany, Great Britain, Japan, Poland and China in their race, with the first three in each of the two semi-finals as well as the next best two teams advancing to the final.

It is expected that the 100m medalists Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Shericka Jackson and Elaine Thompson-Herah will run in the final set for Saturday should the team advance to the medal round.

The men’s team are in the second of two semi-finals and will face Denmark, South Africa, Brazil, Italy, France, Spain and Canada.

Each team are allowed four changes if they qualify for the final.
