Zimi Seh Riva makes splash
IT was wet and wild fun at Sunday’s staging of Zimi Seh Riva at the Tru-Juice River in Bog Walk, St Catherine. Director of Zimi Entertainment Nicholas “Zimi Nick” Mahfood says it exceeded his expectations.
“I am very pleased with this year’s execution; the Zimi team, Main Event and our tittle sponsor Tru-Juice pushed our creativity to expand and reimagine the venue while maintaining the natural ‘riva’ feel that patrons love. Safety and the ultimate security of our patrons were predominantly our concern, so this year we made an extra effort to ensure our patrons would feel confident to come out and enjoy themselves,” he told the Jamaica Observer.
Upon entering the property, scores of cars were seen lined up, which was an early indication that hundreds of partygoers had turned out to the food-inclusive, cooler event. The sporadic rain seemed to only add to the river effect as people could be seen partying in it, even while eating from the wide range of food options available.
Entertainment was provided by Chromatic Live, A-Team, Laing D, and Nico Lee. There were also candid performances by Marksman and Biggs Don with fireworks to top off the evening’s festivities.
Mahfood says his team remains dedicated to providing patrons with exceptional experiences at all their events — whether Zimi Seh Brunch, ‘Riva’ or Beach.
“We also pride ourselves on our ability to bring new experiences and novel concepts to the people while we welcome everyone in a safe environment to enjoy themselves holistically. Our patrons are always our priority, and their needs are considered first in our planning process. Therefore, we are not just a party — we curate an experience that we want everyone to remember forever,” he explained.
The director further said that the event was planned to the ‘T’, once they were given the green light from the Government and security officials to host it.
“We’ve been planing the event since the reopening of the entertainment industry; and though the postponement and date changes due to the state of emergency in St Catherine were initial challenges, once approved we wanted to please our patrons with a great event and we continue to appreciate the love and support we got through it all,” he added.
Patrons had an exceptional time at the party. Those who caught up with the Observer had few words to say, but the message was clear.
“Anything Zimi seh, we deh deh. The party loud!” said customer service representative Oneil Banton.
Cosmetologist Maxine Henry had a similar review.
“The food is amazing. The music, the ambiance and overall attention to detail — it’s pretty great,” she said.
