131 new COVID-19 cases, four more deaths reported
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica on Thursday recorded 131 new cases of COVID-19 and four more virus-related deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the total confirmed cases to 146,114 and the death toll to 3,191.
Of the newly reported cases, there were 83 females and 48 males – with ages ranging from six months to 95 years.
The new cases were recorded in St James (12), Kingston and St Andrew (45), St Ann (21), Westmoreland (seven), Clarendon (11), St Catherine (15), Manchester (six), St Elizabeth (nine) and Trelawny (five).
Hanover, St Mary, Portland and St Thomas recorded no new cases.
The latest fatalities are:
1. A 67-year-old female from St James who died in September 2021
2. A 75-year-old female from Clarendon who died in October 2021
3. A 96-year-old male from St Elizabeth who died in July 2022
4. A 71-year-old male from St Thomas who died in July 2022
According to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Health and Wellness, the country also recorded 93 recoveries, for a total of 93,637.
There are 1,310 active cases of COVID-19 on the island.
The positivity rate for the latest round of testing now stands at 22.6 per cent.
Currently, 101 people are hospitalised with four being critically ill.
