Two parties, one weekend for ‘Yesterday’
PROMOTERS of ‘Wray and Nephew Yesterday — the best of the 90s’ will offer its patrons a double treat next weekend as there will be two stagings of the event.
The first event is dubbed the pre-Independence Edition and takes place on Friday, August 5 at Mas Camp in St Andrew.
The other, Bikini and Short Shorts Edition, will unfold the following day, Saturday, August 6 at Island Village Beach in Ocho Rios, St Ann.
Gyete Ghartey is promoter and spokesperson for the events.
“Over the years we have been asked to do an event in Ocho Rios and we decided that since we’re coming back after almost three years, we wanted to do something impactful. And so, to satisfy the demand, we’ll have a Kingston staging and another in Ocho Rios,” Ghartey explained to the Jamaica Observer.
The DJ line-up for Friday night includes Mandeville’s DJ Shane Di Ultimate, DJ Marvin, DJ Arif Cooper, and ZJ Liquid.
“We’ll be having a very special surprise at midnight at the Mas Camp. With Ocho Rios on Saturday, we’ll be on the beach and you can go into the water because it will be fairly lit. We’ll also have a special performance by Bounty Killer so we had to spice things up and have nuff niceness for the weekend,” said the frontman.
According to Ghartey, the delayed staging of the event since the reopening of the entertainment sector in March was deliberate.
“We wanted to make sure we had all the infrastructure in place. We wanted to make sure that we had easier access to the bars, easier access into the venue, so that’s the reason why we delayed the start.”
Aside from Bounty Killer’s performance in Ocho Rios, the musical juggling will be courtesy of Hyperactive Sound, DJ Rush and DJ Ashile.
