POLICE have launched a manhunt for two suspects who fled the scene of a shooting incident on Sir Florizel Glasspole Highway in Kingston eastern on Friday, during which one man was shot and killed by lawmen.

The shooting occurred in the vicinity of the Rockfort Mineral Bath.

Information from the police’s Corporate Communications Unit said about 12:10 pm, lawmen were conducting patrols in the area when they were alerted to a robbery in progress. Upon arrival in Rockfort, four men travelling on two motorcycles matching the description of the robbery suspects were signalled to stop, but did not comply.

The men reportedly pulled firearms and shot at the police, who returned fire. One of the motorcycles crashed to the ground, and one of the men was found with gunshot wounds. He was reportedly clutching a Smith and Wesson revolver with four rounds of ammunition. He later died at hospital. Another man was accosted and is currently under police guard in hospital nursing gunshot wounds. The two men on the other motorcycle managed to escape.
