Scotiabank — ‘Wi lickle, but wi tallawah’
Our athletes have done it again and have upheld a legacy of excellence and tenacity that has always aligned with our own values at Scotiabank. Placing third overall in medals in a field of 190 nations that participated at the 18th staging of the World Athletic Championship held in Eugene, Oregon, was no easy feat. Yet again, we ‘Jaminated’.
Our fearless squad of track and field athletes continues to prove time and again that this island of fewer than 3 million people may be small, but as the saying goes, “Wi lickle, but wi tallawah.”
Of course, we must also shine the spotlight on the performance of our superstar brand ambassador Shericka Jackson, who fulfilled her personal ambition of becoming the world champion in the women’s 200 metres while carrying the hopes and dreams of our nation on her shoulders.
As her first major local sponsor, we couldn’t be prouder, and our team of Scotiabankers in all our branches weren’t afraid to show it every time she stepped on the track as we knocked pot covers and showed our dance moves to cheer her on during the games. We were also thrilled to have been able to send our own team of track enthusiasts and four lucky customers to cheer her on because we knew how important it was for her to have familiar faces from home being there in her corner, rooting for her every step of the way.
In this, Jamaica’s Diamond Jubilee year of Independence, our team of athletes mined not just gold but goodwill and positive exposure for Jamaica.
