The crocodile on the coat of arms is a real danger
Dear Editor,
The Jamaican authorities must be commended for placing signs on our roadways to warn of dangerous animals crossing or hiding in the bushes.
In the Greater Portmore area there is a distinct sign: “Caution, Crocodile Habitat”.
Residents who “slept” on concrete at the National Stadium to procure a home face known and unknown threats.
These homeowners have overcome mosquitoes and other hardships. However, the presence of various types of waterways, the sea, and sewage are inflicting new worries. Even iron wrought door frames have been eroded. Many of the residents are now elderly and in need of protection.
Surely these people merit a supporting call from environmental lobbyists.
