Business notes— August 10, 2022

July Traffic Report

Sangster International Airport (SIA) is reporting a 37 per cent year-over-year growth to 430,300 terminal passengers for July. This performance is three per cent below the July 2019 figures of 443,100 passengers. Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA) recorded an 84 per cent increase in air traffic to 176,300 passengers for July. SIA’s year-to-date traffic of 2.52 million passengers is 98 per cent higher than the 1.28 million passengers in January – July 2021, while NMIA had a 104 per cent increase in year-to-date traffic of 807,400 passengers.

July Performance

Stationery and Office Supplies Limited (SOS) was the best-performing stock in July as it rose by 39 per cent from $12.24 to $17.00. Margaritaville (Turks) Limited (JMD shares), Main Event Entertainment Group Limited (MEEG), Caribbean Assurance Brokers Limited, Radio Jamaica Limited, MFS Capital Partners Limited (formerly SSL Venture Capital Limited), Sygnus Real Estate Finance Limited (USD shares) and Mayberry Jamaican Equities Limited were the best-performing stocks in July.

AMG Paper and Packaging Company Limited was the worst-performing stock in July as it declined by 20 per cent from $4.70 to $3.75. Mailpac Group Limited, MPC Caribbean Clean Energy Limited (JMD shares), CAC 2000 Limited, Portland JSX Limited, General Accident Insurance Company Limited, Salada Foods Limited, and Kingston Properties Limited were the other worst-performing stocks in July.

iCreate Limited is the best-performing stock year to date as it remains up 500 per cent from $0.78 to $4.68. Fosrich Company Limited, MFS, SOS, Tropical Battery Company Limited, Future Energy Source Company Limited, Main Event Entertainment Group and Cargo Handlers Limited are the other stocks showing good year-to-date performances.

ISP Finance Limited is the worst-performing stock so far in 2022, with the stock down from $38 at the start of the year to $19.75 at the end of July. Mailpac, tTech Limited, Sygnus Real Estate Finance Limited (JMD shares), Jamaican Teas Limited, The Limners and Bards Limited, MPC (JMD shares) and Salada Foods Limited are the other stocks showing big declines year to date.

Market Sales and Events

An employee of Sygnus Capital Limited sold 9,300 shares of Sygnus Credit Investments Limited on August 2. A former senior officer of GraceKennedy Limited acquired 199,284 shares pursuant to the company’s 2017, 2018 and 2019 stock option plans. A senior manager of Supreme Ventures Limited purchased 33,400 shares while a connected party sold 45,000 shares on July 27.

Jetcon Corporation Limited expects to submit its annual report by August 18 after being delayed since April 30. iCreate Limited expects to submit its annual report by Friday.

Robert Parkins has retired as the general manager of Lasco Manufacturing Limited, effective July 30.

Lynda Gauthier was appointed the group chief risk officer and chief sustainability officer for Sagicor Financial Company Limited on August 2.

Stanley Motta Limited has declared a dividend of $0.066 to be paid on September 2 to shareholders on record as of August 19. This payment totals $50.02 million.

Access Financial Services Limited has declared a dividend of $0.10 to be paid on August 30 to shareholders on record as of August 16. This payment totals $27.45 million.

Caribbean Cream Limited did not declare a dividend at its August 4 board meeting.

Sterling Investments Limited will consider a dividend tomorrow while Eppley Limited and Panjam Investments Limited will consider dividend payments on Friday. Future Energy Source Company Limited will consider a final dividend with respect to its 2022 financial year on Friday. Cargo Handlers Limited will consider a dividend payment at its August 16 board meeting.
