Capleton fires up Cove

TWO days after escaping a near-fatal car crash, fireband singjay Capleton delivered a top-notch performance at Thursday Night Live’s ‘Acoustic Inna Di City’, held at The Cove on Winchester Road in St Andrew.

After a lengthy set the veteran artiste said it was important for him to come out and deliver to his fans, as promised.

“It means everything [to be here] ’cause life over death is the most ultimate thing. Material things can always replace but life cyaa replace,” he told the Jamaica Observer in the wee hours of Friday morning following his performance.

“The highlight of the night would be the audience, enuh — how the people interact and how they sing the songs,” he continued.

Capleton escaped serious injury when the Mercedes-Benz SUV he was travelling in “hit a stump” and overturned along the Llandewey road in St Thomas. The vehicle was reportedly totalled.

He was returning from a charity show in Cedar Valley, St Thomas, and was with relatives at the time of the accident. Sizzla Kalonji also performed on the show.

Noting that he’s medically cleared, Capleton said he’s booked for a show in St Ann later this month.

Meanwhile, the scores of patrons who turned out at Winchester Road venue couldn’t get enough of his performance. Even when he had bid his engaged audience farewell, Capleton still performed at least two more tracks on the staircase descending the stage.

Jahvillani

Fan favourites like That Day Will Come, Jah Jah City, In Her Heart, Same Old Story, and Fire Time blared through the speakers one after the other. There were no visible signs he was in a serious crash just two days prior.

Deejay Jahvillani also graced the stage. He too was elated about the opportunity to be at the event.

“Mi glad fi deh yah, man. Big up King Shango; a mi uncle dat. It’s a joy fi a share the same stage wid him,” he told the Observer.

His set comprised Wileside Government, Dirt To Bentley, and Rubberband.
