Survivor Fresh King readies album
AFTER surviving several near-death experiences deejay Fresh King is gearing up to release his debut album Versatile Cave Ute on September 7.
The 22-track set arrives just seven years after Fresh King, whose real name is Rohan Clearly, began to pursue music professionally.
“Basically, the songs on the album are reality and social issues. A just reality mi sing, and art imitates life and I just add the pain, the fight, and the struggle to it,” Fresh King told the Jamaica Observer.
“I have many different styles, flows, melodies, and lyrics which explain my versatility. The title of the album has to do with the fact that in 2014 I was stabbed, burnt, and left for dead in a cave,” he continued.
Sky Bad Productions, Countree Hype, K Swizz, Day One Link Records, PP Production, and Upper Cut Records are among those who contributed to the album.
Collaborators include Shane O, Xkappe, and Sammie Seductive.
Despite the obstacles, Fresh King is determined to continue his musical journey. In April 2019 he narrowly escape a horrific car accident that split his motor vehicle into two pieces.
Fresh King says he believes he is still alive because he is here for a great purpose. The deejay, who lost the mother of his child in the tragic accident, which made headlines locally and internationally, says he remains strong because of his son.
“From mi a youth, me know say me different and that is part of the reason I am able to cope with the challenges I have faced in life. Mi literally see death’s door several times and mi still deh yah a dweet big. My album represents everything that has shaped my life and mindset and, as such, it is a must-have for anyone who appreciates good music. Mi a do this for my youth.” Fresh King stated.
The Mandeville-based entertainer is currently making waves in the viral space with songs such as Skill Inna Di Game and Weh Unu Know Bout Man.
