Appfinity Technologies gets ready for overseas markets

Appfinity Technologies Limited based on the vision of its founders was developed to provide scalable technology or software infrastructure suited to the needs of companies which are at varying stages of growth and development.

The firm is a Jamaican software development company that designs and develops bespoke software solutions and SaaS (software-as-a-service) products under the company tagline “Connect…Build…Optimize.”

Appfinity Technologies is the creator of the popular iTineri events management platform which many local corporate and entertainment companies now have in use.

The founders, George Henry, who is the current chief executive officer, and directors of the company Sheldon Powe and David Stephens have invested not only money but their hearts and souls in making Appfinity a successful entity in a fiercely competitive environment.

Incorporated in 2018 and operating from Randolph Avenue in Kingston with 13 full-time employees, founding partner Henry told the Jamaica Observer that the start-up, “in the beginning was [due to] the need to provide sustainable income for a group of engineers who were made redundant at a previous company they were working.

“After I started the company I realised that there was a great need in our ecosystem for scalable technology in the form of software infrastructure”.

Today, operations are segmented into two divisions: bespoke software development and SaaS product development.

Bespoke software involves the development of customised software solutions for external organisations of varying sizes. Examples include web applications, mobile applications, e-commerce platforms and management information systems.

SaaS product development includes the development of the company’s own software products, and selling the licence and/or rights to use the applications.

Examples of Appfinity licensed products include; iTeneri, Tickkiz, and HappyReply. iTeneri – iTeneri is an event management platform that streamlines the processes involved in planning, executing and assessing the impact of virtual and hybrid events.

Tickkiz is a learning and behavioural management system while Happy Reply is an emoji-based customer feedback management tool.

Henry told Sunday Finance that iTeneri, the SaaS product, is the company’s most popular product. iTeneri is an event management platform that streamlines the processes involved in planning, executing and assessing the impact of virtual and hybrid events.

Henry explained, “Our product has managed over 250 local and international virtual and hybrid events for companies such as the Jamaica Stock Exchange, the National Commercial Bank, GraceKennedy, the Private Sector Organization of Jamaica, and the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce.

TARGET

Appfinity is currently targeting support for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises generating less than $75 million per year, to large enterprises generating more than $75 million in revenue per year.

For iTeneri, the targets are event coordinators, event planners, publicly listed companies, non-profit organisations, professional associations, marketing professionals and company secretaries, and digital marketing agencies.

For Happy Reply, the targets are limited liability and public companies. Tickkiz is aimed at public and private schools as well as private tertiary institutions.

The company is currently seeking funding to support its drive to reach international markets.

Appfinity’s annual revenue ranges between J$50 million and J$70 million with tangible assets worth J$21 million and intangible assets worth $150 million.

Henry shared, “Over the past three years we have been growing steadily between 25 per cent to 35 per cent.”

Appfinity’s CEO commented, “I believe the greatest challenge for a tech company in our local industry is sourcing competitive investments. SaaS-based companies can compete on an international scale and in order to do that we will need to be competitive at the international level which will need sustainable investments to scale.”
