Damion Crawford should zip it!
Dear Editor,
Of course, Damion Crawford — the Opposition’s mouthpiece and chief headline seeker — would not let the current fake outrage about the Negril sign slip by without adding his two cents.
For Crawford to suggest that the $12 million spent on the sign could, instead, be used for education shows that his intentions are less than honest and were merely meant to stoke further outrage among his ignorant followers.
As a former junior tourism minister, Crawford is well aware of the intended purpose of the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF). Or, it may be a case of selective amnesia that caused him to believe that the E in TEF stands for ‘education’. The money that goes into the TEF is paid by tourists and used to ‘enhance’ tourist areas.
Either way, Crawford knows better.
However, he prefers to act brand new.
Hasn’t he seen the People’s National Party’s poor showing in the latest opinion polls?
Politicising the issue this way takes away from a serious discussion that must be had about the use of these funds.
With people like Crawford parroting foolishness all day, every day, the Jamaican society will be stuck in this rut of ignorance for a while longer.
