WITH the aim to expose new and emerging talent, disc jockey and selector DJ Azmatic, along with a few friends, recently launched Third Degree Records.

“Currently I’m exercising the talent God has given me, with the assistance of a group of friends that I grew up with. We started a record label to branch off into music production. This will also incorporate beats that I’ve made and also songs I’ve written,” DJ Azmatic explained.

“We will be producing a wide variety of music over the next couple of months. We also want to highlight and showcase emerging talent within the music industry,” he continued.

Now based in East Hampton, New York, since last year, DJ Azmatic has been involved in music for the past seven years.

“I’ve been a DJ for seven years now and I play mostly hip hop and R&B as well as dancehall. Those were the genres of music that I used to perfect my craft over the years. As a DJ, I bring creativity, versatility and youthful exuberance to the art,” DJ Azmatic disclosed.

Born Kyrel O’Sullivan, the former Kingston College student who is from Spanish Town, says since he made the move to the United States, he has been busy making a name for himself in music circles.

During the summer, he played at a number of events, including the Drinkaz Paradise Pool Party in New York.

“Drinkaz Paradise was an event full of enjoyment from the start. There were different DJs who brought their own vibe which the crowd enjoyed. Other gigs I’ve done after that event were mostly private functions apart from an event held in Montauk for Jamaica’s Independence,” he said.

“My passion for music developed by being around an individual who goes by the name Kevez who from a young age had a passion for making and mixing music which sparked my interest. Kevez then introduced me to DJ Antsman, and throughout the years of them working together and dominating every event that we went to, that groomed and steered the passion that I have for music now. As a DJ, I hope to achieve and gain the respect of my fellow Jamaicans as one of the best in the business,” he continued.
