Chug It dominates Negril

Chug It dominates Negril

CHUG It’s return on Sunday, October 16, 2022 was one of epic proportions as thousands, from as early as 2:00 pm, lined Negril’s strip for entrance to the highly anticipated event. Revellers transformed Wavz Beach into a wave of pulsating energy as they partied the day — and night away.

Luxury shuttle buses arrived at full seating capacity from parishes islandwide and were greeted by attractions, including stilt walkers and fire breathers. Vendors also came in droves, engaging patrons for much-needed business.

With massive bars strategically placed throughout the venue, patrons indulged throughout the duration of the event with a continuous flow of imbibements — true to the drink-inclusive event.

On the beach during daytime hours, patrons were kept entertained by the impressive DJ line-up, prepping for the night’s live entertainment show which did not disappoint.

Bayka took to the stage first to the reception of an eager crowd. Hits that found major success with the audience included She Like It, Mobsta, and Top Tier. Females close to the stage held onto the artiste eagerly as the energy from the crowd fuelled his performance. In a move that found favour with a captive audience, he took a phone from a patron and proceeded to do a self-recording.

Montego Bay’s Silk Boss was next for his debut performance on the Chug It stage. He made an energetic opening accompanied by a fire breather. The audience went wild, erupting in cheers to see the artiste live and well following his motor vehicle crash the day prior. The audience responded to his successful singles Mankind and Sorry, singing the lyrics with the artiste, word for word. He also brought his mother on stage and thanked her, stating that everything he does is for her and his growing family.

“We are immensely pleased with the turnout of supporters to Chug It in Negril,” shared Vanassa Metzger, PR & communications manager, Chug it.

“We are happy we were able to deliver on our promise to our patrons in the west with an energetic return that did not disappoint. The massive turnout and continued support of the event, means that we are doing right by our mandate in promoting and supporting Jamaican culture, particularly dancehall culture. Chug It is the only event in Jamaica that produces an entertainment package of this calibre for the masses and we continue to prove this with each staging. We expect we will continue this upward trend for the stagings to come,” she continued.

Chug It’s last staging in the west was in 2019. The next staging is slated for Sunday, November 27, at Sugarman’s Beach in Portmore, St Catherine.
