Man shot dead by police in Manchester

MANCHESTER, Jamaica – A man was shot dead in an alleged confrontation with police in Manchester on Tuesday morning.

A firearm was reportedly seized in the incident.

Preliminary reports from police sources say shortly after 6:00 am, a police team was on an operation in the community of Ellisten (near Spur Tree) when the cops were confronted by an armed man. He was shot and pronounced dead at hospital.

On Monday, the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) in a statement said fatal shootings by security forces increased to 19 for October following three incidents on the weekend.
