DeZign Me Happy!

One of Design Week’s most anticipated events is always DeZign Diva Karen Booker’s sessions. Her well-thought-out and executed presentation on Saturday, October 22, in the Grand Ballroom of the Mansion at Devon House was yet another success as she in her inimitable manner not only underscored the importance of making one’s home one’s sanctuary, but demonstrated just how achievable it was.

Booker opened her informative décor and design session with a visual presentation before segueing into a comprehensive DIY interactive demonstration.

“A trend will last 10 years; a fad is up-to-the-minute. So, what you do is invest in trends and buy a little fad to keep your space relevant,” she posited as she introduced guests to current trends, like the urban jungle, art, statement headboard, cosy nooks, incorporating colour and how to make your own cushions.

The inimitable Joan McDonald, Miss Jamaica World 1978, who handled formalities, kept attendees on their toes with the requisite trivia questions while the musical stylings of Jamaican artiste Mary Isaacs kept the evening mellow.

The smart display of household must-haves, priced to sell, allowed many, by close of evening, to make purchases to commence their holiday transformations.
