Digitally Creative @Spaces

#DesignWeekJA, a property of the Jamaica Observer, took a walk down digital lane Saturday last. Hosted by Janelle Pantry-Coke, creative director of Spaces Furniture and Décor, the one-day-only digital art exhibition/sip and shop featured four artists: Kianne Hutchinson, Bonito “Don Dada” Thompson, Lisa Golding and Christopher Fuller.

Digital art has existed for over 30 years and spans a broad spectrum of mediums, from animation and digital painting to 3-D printed sculptures; and the four artists were more than eager to share and educate patrons.

Hutchinson’s exhibition was inspired by traditional Jamaican elements with a modern spin; Don Dada drew inspiration from typography and dancehall; Golding’s inspiration comes by way of prints and patterns; whilst Fuller took sides with elements of nature.

Pantry-Coke, who was thrilled at the response, spoke to the “now” of the exhibition and her desire for individuals to embrace the inventiveness of the current crop of creatives.

Saturday Social shares highlights from Spaces Digital Art Exhibition of artists and collectors.
