MINNESOTA, United States — A Minnesota woman was gunned down outside her workplace for “repeatedly” rejecting a co-worker’s advances.

According to a report from the New York Post, Nicole Hammond, 28, died in the parking lot of her St Cloud workplace on October 24 after co-worker Jordan Carpenter allegedly shot her in the neck, police said.

The NY Post said a statement from the St Cloud Police revealed that Carpenter, 36, fled but was tracked down about three hours later hiding in a home in nearby Sauk Rapids. The suspect was reportedly in possession of a handgun and was arrested on murder charges.

A probable cause statement obtained by the Kansas City Star revealed that the deceased woman had texted her alleged killer a day before she was gunned down and insisted that she did not want to be touched or manipulated by him. According to the NY Post, the victim had “repeatedly” rejected Carpenter’s romantic advances in the month leading up to the violent murder, asking him “not to make things uncomfortable at work.”

It was revealed that the alleged harassment was never reported to their employers.

Following his arrest, Carpenter reportedly admitted to officers that he was “upset” about Hammond’s rejection the night before her death. He, however, did not admit to the slaying and claims he had been walking toward Hammond’s car when he heard the gunshot.

The NY Post article says the alleged killer told cops he ran away because he was “too traumatised” after seeing his love interest’s body.
