Rousseau, St Patrick’s Primary schools crowned INSPORTS football and netball champions
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Rousseau Primary and St Patrick’s Primary schools emerged champions of the Institute of Sports (INSPORTS) Kingston and St Andrew Primary School Football and Netball competitions respectively.
Rousseau Primary defeated Pembroke Hall 2-1 to lift the football title, while Mona Primary turned back Windward Road Primary 3-1 and secured third place. Both games were played at Stadium East.
In the netball final at the Leila Robinson court, St Patrick’s got the better of Mona Primary 10-8 in an exciting encounter. Holy Family Primary finished third.
In Hanover, Claremont Primary were crowned football champion after defeating Bethel Primary 2-1. Pell River Primary secured the third spot after beating Lucea Primary 1-0.
The other regional winners will be decided soon. But in Portland, Port Antonio Primary marched into the football final with a convincing 3-0 win over Buff Bay Primary and will meet Manchioneal Primary, who blanked Boston Primary 2-0. The final is set for Friday, December 9.
In St Elizabeth, Brompton Primary and Barbary Hall will contest the netball final set for Tuesday, December 6. Brompton defeated Brinkley Primary 18-3 while Barbary Hall got the better of Glen Stuart Primary 8-5.
In football semis, Santa Cruz Primary beat Brompton 2-0 and Holland Primary defeated Black River Primary 5-0 and will also meet in the final on December 6.
In Trelawny, Clarks Town Primary and Duanvale Primary will contest the final on Friday, December 9. Defending champions Clarks Town defeated Brampton Primary 2-0, while Duanvale swamped Ulster Spring Primary 7-0. Junior Gray scored all seven goals for Duanvale.
In St Ann, Steer Town Primary and Discover Bay Primary will meet in the December 8 final. Steer Town defeated Golden Grove All Age 2-1, while Discovery Bay edged Ocho Rios 1-0.
In St Catherine, Old Harbour Primary and Marlie Mount Primary will contest the final of the netball competition on Tuesday, December 6 at the Spanish Town Prison Oval. Old Harbour defeated Naggo Head 10-3, while Marlie Mount beat McAuley Primary 14-7.
Meanwhile, McAuley Primary and Old Harbour will met in the football final. McAuley blanked Bridgeport Primary 3-0 and Old Harbour defeated Naggo Head 3-0.
The INSPORTS Primary Schools Football and Netball competitions will have the regional winners in December and they along with the runner’s up will advance to the National Champions in January to determine the all-island champions.
