Hot Lila Iké joins Burna Boy
LILA Iké is the latest act rostered for Burna Boy’s Love Damini Tour slated for the National Arena in St Andrew on Sunday, December 18.
She now joins dancehall heavyweight Popcaan, who is also billed for the show.
Lila Iké — whose given name is Alecia Grey — hails from Manchester. She came to prominence in 2019 with Nobody Man, Biggest Fan, Second Chance, and Where I’m Coming From.
She is part of Protoje’s In.Digg.Nation Collective which partnered with Six Course/RCA Records in 2020 for the release of projects by herself and the Grammy-nominated artiste.
At the time, she was ecstatic about the partnership.
“The RCA team I met has really good energy and is just as excited about music as I am, so it’s just up from here!” she told the Jamaica Observer in a previous interview.
Among the current acts on RCA’s roster are rhythm and blues singers Alicia Keys, Usher, Chris Brown, and Khalid; pop singers Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Miley Cyrus, the Backstreet Boys; rappers Davido and ASAP Rocky; and Koffee.
Lila Iké released her debut seven-track EP The ExPerience in May 2020. Her other songs include I Spy, Solitude, Second Chance, and Not Another Word with Protoje and Agent Sasco.
Burna Boy (given name Damini Ogulu) is a Nigerian Afrobeats star. He rose to stardom in 2012 with Like to Party, the lead single from his debut studio album, L.I.F.E.
In 2019 he won Best International Act at the 2019 BET Awards and was announced as an Apple Music Up Next artiste. His fourth studio album, African Giant, was released in July 2019 and won Album of the Year at the 2019 All Africa Music Awards; it was also nominated for a Best World Music Album at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards.
Love Damini — his latest album — and Last Last are nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Global Music Album and Best Global Music Performance categories, respectively.
