Elders Corner domino team rebounds in style
Despite not having a chance to reach the semi-finals, Elders Corner made sure they were going out on a high after a comfortable 150-132 win over Starz in the 2022 Winners Domino Christmas League on Monday.
Playing at home, Elders started the match well, as all tables were enjoying a good flow of dominoes. The home team led 76-68 at the break. With nothing much of a change in momentum on the resumption, Elders Corner finished the game celebrating with an 18-point win.
Elders Corner’s pair of Hershey and Nardo Coombs was named Most Outstanding Players for scoring 32 points, including a six-love in the match.
In their previous game, Elders Corners were trashed 109-150 by Correctional Services, who had registered their fifth win from as many starts, easing into one of the four semi-final spots.
It was the visiting Correctional Services team that started the match on the front foot and led at the break, 77-60. In the second half, the visitors stepped up the tempo of their game and stretched their lead over Elders Corner, who offered very little resistance to stop the flow of runs.
The pair of Whyte and Roxroy of Correctional Services were named Most Outstanding Players for scoring a game-high 45 points in the match.
Meanwhile, Trendsetter scored an impressive 150–141 point win over Maverley at Lime Tree Lane.
The visiting Maverley team set the early pace in the game and led the home team 77-66 at the half. In the second half, the Trendsetter team gradually came into their own and took over the lead in the closing stages of the match, holding on for victory in the end.
