Granville seek win over Flankers in St James FA Major League
GRANVILLE, St James – Granville FC will be seeking to avenge their first-round loss to Flankers FC when the teams meet in their St James Football Association Sandals Resorts Major League return-round game today at Granville, starting at 3:00 pm.
Both teams are tied on 13 points, six behind leaders Reggae Youths, but Granville FC are ahead on more goals scored. Both teams are also tied on the same goal-difference of five.
Flankers FC had won their first game 3-1, but Granville FC are unbeaten in their last five games since that loss, including an exciting 2-2 draw against Reggae Youths on Sunday, and will have momentum in their favour.
Also today, Heights FC will hope for back-to-back wins for the first time this season, when they face Cambridge FC at UDC field, while on Friday, Lilliput Rovers and Montego Bay Boys’ Club will hope to rebound from losses last weekend.
On Sunday, Granville FC salvaged a 2-2 draw against Reggae Youths after giving up the lead and going behind 2-1, with a goal in time added.
Flankers FC are also on a good run, coming off three consecutive wins, including a 3-0 win over Lilliput Rovers on Saturday, scoring eight of their 14 goals in the process.
Also today, Heights FC, who hammered Montego Bay Boys’ Club 6-0 on Saturday, will hope to avenge their first round 4-2 loss to
Cambridge FC.
Heights FC have beaten Boys’ Club in their first game then lost their next five and will be hoping to move closer to the top four but must string together a number of wins.
Two players, Christopher Reid and Anthony Gooden, scored doubles in their win over Boys’ Club last weekend and will have to produce the goods again today, if Heights FC are to get another three points.
On Friday, Lilliput Rovers, who are on 10 points, will be hoping to snap a two-game losing skid when they face Boys’ Club who they had beaten 5-0 in the first game between the teams in October.
