Cambridge beat Heights in St James/Sandals Major League
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Cambridge FC ended a three-game losing skid when they beat Heights FC 3-1 in the St James Football Association Sandals Resorts International Major League return game at the UDC Field on Thursday.
Romeo Grant scored twice for Cambridge FC.
Meanwhile, the game between Granville FC and Flankers FC set for Sam Sharpe Teachers’ College also on Thursday was not played as the field was deemed under prepared.
On Friday, Lilliput Rovers will seek to end a two-game losing skid when they take on winless and last-placed Montego Bay Boys’ Club at the UDC field.
Lilliput Rovers are currently in fifth place on 10 points, two points behind Cambridge FC, but a win could take them climb as high as second place on goal-difference.
Montego Bay Boys Club are yet to win a game, losing all seven played so far and have conceded 13 goals in their last two games.
On Thursday, Grant scored a goal in each half as Cambridge FC restarted their quest for a semi-final spot.
Rojay Sinclair scored in the first minute to give Cambridge FC the lead and Grant doubled the advantage when he scored the first of his brace in the 33rd minute.
Christopher Reid pulled one back for Heights FC in the 40th minute as they trailed by one goal at the half-time break.
Grant then scored a second goal and his team’s third in the 60th minute as they cruised to their first win since October 29.
