Popcaan on the warpath
POPCAAN, one of the headline acts on the Burna Boy Live concert at the National Stadium in Kingston on Sunday, appears to be dissatisfied with his treatment by organisers.
He took to social media to air his concerns which were aimed at co-organisers Solid Agency and it head Sharon Burke.
“Unuh feel like unuh can control the industry and put who unuh wah put a number one and put who unuh wah put international,” he said in part.
“Unruly Boss break dem spell deh long time and show unuh seh mi nuh need unuh … It late fi unuh. Unuh cyaa stop Unruly again and mi know how unuh roll; unuh know Unuh cyaa control me already,” the deejay continued.
The deejay also blamed the technical glitches he experienced during his set on the co-organisers.
Popcaan’s microphone chipped out shortly after he hit the stage on Sunday night causing the artiste to leave the stage fuming. He, however, returned shortly after to complete his set.
“Don’t try ramp wid me, enuh man. Fix up di ting man,” Popcaan angrily said on Sunday.
Several attempts to get a comment from Burke were unsuccessful.
Popcaan also had a few words for Grammy Award-winning singer Shaggy in his presentation.
In a release on Monday, event co-organisers Twisted Entertainment, Duke Concept and Solid Agency acknowledged the audio problems experienced by some patrons and expressed that they are committed to resolving the issue in the future.
“We recognise and apologise for technical difficulties with the sound on the night of the event. We also apologize for flaws in crowd control for particularly the Ultra VIP. We are committed going forward to ensuring a better experience where these are concerned, fulfilling a better overall experience,” the statement read in part.
In addition to Burna Boy and Popcaan, other acts on the concert included Lila Iké, Beres Hammond, Serani, and Miss World 2019 Toni-Ann Singh.
