Bellevue gets makeover
Bellevue Hospital (BVH) in East Kingston, which caters exclusively to people with mental challenges, is being transformed by new CEO Suzette “Camile” Buchanan who is on a bold quest to persuade, if not convince the public that the place that many have scorned over the years is now one to embrace, with a collective passion.
Just five months in the job, Buchanan — the former day-to-day head of the Universal Service Fund and Caymanas Track Ltd — has already made her mark from within by winning the confidence of the near 600-strong staff and has now embarked on another phase of restoring beauty to Bellevue, renovating one of the facility’s parks and is set on creating other therapeutic parks on the compound in recognition the importance of water and animal therapy and we have started that process.
