ABC News apologises for using Quavo’s photo in tribute to Takeoff
UNITED STATES — In a year-end tribute to those who lost their lives in 2022, ABC news network found themselves in hot water on social media after using a photo of Quavo instead of Takeoff to pay respects to the slain rapper.
According to a report from Complex Magazine, the Migos mixup angered several fans who took to social media to blast the network for not paying enough attention to detail. The backlash triggered a response from the news network, which took to its Twitter account to issue an apology.
“We apologize for the unfortunate error in a previous version of ‘The Year: 2022.’ It has been corrected,” ABC tweeted.
This isn’t the first time a news outlet was mistaking the deceased rapper for another Migos member. Following news of Takeoff’s death, E! News mistakenly used a photo of Offset when reporting on the matter. The mixup was also quickly remedied but not before triggering thousands of comments from angry fans.
Takeoff was gunned down at a bowling Alley in Houston, Texas on November 1. He was 28 years old. Thirty-three-year-old Patrick Xavier Clark has since been charged with Takeoff’s murder.
