ISAIAH Laing, principal of Supreme Promotions — organisers of Sting — says all eyes are on Valiant to dominate the dancehall arena. His sentiments come days after iconic fashion magazine Vogue listed the dancehall artiste as one of “the nine musicians set to take over in 2023”.

“Valiant used the subsequent attention to release back-to-back hits that have made him an overnight star. He brings his own dark, fervent flow to dancehall, describing his sound as “trappa gospel”, said Vogue.

Laing was in total agreement.

“It’s gonna be a good year for Valiant; the sky is the limit for him. There’s no limit to what he can achieve,” Laing told the Jamaica Observer.

Valiant was booked for the return of Sting on Boxing Day at Grizzly’s Plantation Cove in St Ann. He, however, did not get an opportunity to perform due to the premature ending of the show. The deejay opted instead to give an impromptu set atop his motor car in the parking lot.

Laing noted that he is sure Valiant would have surpassed expectations if he had got a chance to perform.

“He is the fastest-rising young artiste in the island. I was so worried for him because he didn’t get to perform but he is a smarty guy,” he said.

The promoter also said he will not be leaving Valiant off his rosters for shows to come.

“I wouldn’t want to do an event without him. I want to wish him all the best in his endeavours. I know when I see a star,” he said.

Valiant, given name Raheem Bowes, rose to stardom with his “kotch e hat” phrase on TikTok, ultimately becoming the first artiste to have five songs simultaneously topping the country’s YouTube chart.

Valiant is known for hit songs including, Dunce Cheque, Speed Off, Siance, North Carolina, Narcissistic, Barbies, Glock 40, and St Mary.

The other artistes who made the Vogue list are Clavish, Highlyy, Debbie, Lola Brooke, DOMi & JD BECK, Elmiene, Coco Jones and Addison Rae.
