Lappaleng is concerned with the level of violence in the country. It has formed the inspiration for his latest single Too Much Tears.

“The level of violence is staggering — 32 persons were killed in the first two weeks of the year, a lot of good friends and neighbours are being killed, and there is no stoppage to it,” he said.

The song was released on his own Lappaleng Records label via all digital download platforms in January. The song is heavily inspired by the 1984 hit song Tears by American R&B group Force MDs.

“The response has been great to the song. It went viral on the Internet; 22,000 views on my YouTube channel in only a few days. People are fed up with the murders and the crime,” he said.

Lappaleng is known for his comedic musical stylings and uptempo fun songs.

“I can give you a mixture of everything — even gospel. The only thing me nuh do a gun song,” he said.

Back in the day Lappaleng, who hails from Montego Bay, St James, was a popular figure who had made a name for himself with the releases of songs such as Love Money Man, but he migrated to live overseas. In 2003 Saab returned to the island with the intention of relaunching his career with Million Buck, which was done for his label.

Sabb scored a minor radio hit with the comedic track Serve, which was released in February 2019.
