Cavalier and Arnett get rebound wins in JPL

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Former champions Cavalier FC and Arnett Gardens were both winners on Monday night as the penultimate set of games in the first round of the Jamaica Premier League came to an end with a doubleheader at the Anthony Spalding Sports Complex in Kingston.

Cavalier FC beat Molynes United 2-0 to close the gap on leader Mt Pleasant, while Arnett Gardens edged Harbour View 1-0 and are in third place on the points tables.

Mt Pleasant lead the tables after 12 rounds with 27 points, followed by Cavalier FC with 25, Arnett Gardens are third with 21, one point ahead of Humble Lion, followed by Harbour View and Dunbeholden both on 19 points.

Cavalier rebounded from their loss to Waterhouse to beat Molynes United 2-0 with Shaniel Thomas opening the scoring in the 51st minute before Collin Anderson secured the points with his 10th goal of the season in the 79th minute.

In the second game, Shai Smith scored on his debut for Arnett Gardens, scoring in the 69th minute as they came back from two games without a loss, beaten by Dunbeholden and then held 0-0 by Faulkland FC.
