Love-Themed Wedding
Red and white aisle décor.

Love-Themed Wedding

We can’t think of anything more romantic than saying “I do” in the month of love. Every year, February is filled with fresh flowers, chocolates, hearts, and lots of other expressions of love. So, why not celebrate by incorporating all that into a wedding?

One of the easiest ways to pay homage to the season of love is by working with a thematic colour scheme centred on red, pink, or both. You can then choose flowers, stationery, or other nuptial elements in the requisite shades. In addition to (or instead of) hues, you can work with motifs that complement the theme. Elements like hearts are a fairly obvious option that can be incorporated into everything from décor to desserts. However, there are other symbols of love like the letters X and O, Cupid, or even love quotes.

To help plan your love-themed wedding, I’ve put together a few ways to maximise romance.

Romantic décor

Consider a new approach to incorporate red and white into the wedding décor. Here’s an idea — have a white aisle lined with red roses in a gorgeous arrangement and add some beautiful candles in various sizes for the perfect romantic finish. Long-stemmed red roses are impactful and a great choice for any type of wedding, from rustic to vintage or even traditional.

Dress your bridal party in red

Let your ladies embrace the theme by dressing them in red or pink. Allow them to choose different styles of dresses. Have the groomsmen add a slight pop of red to their attire, it can be as simple as a pocket square or their socks.

Exchange love notes

We love the idea of exchanging a sweet love note. Is there any better time or way to tell your future spouse how much you love them? Have your photographer capture the emotions when they are being read.

Choose a romantic guest book

Guest books are a great way to remind you of your special day for years to come. Add a unique yet romantic twist to the idea by having guests sign wooden hearts and drop them in a bowl.

Wear something heart-shaped or love-themed

If you want something personal and sentimental, try heart-shaped jewellery like diamond stud earrings or a charm bracelet with hearts on it. How about having the word love or hearts on your shoes to add a touch of whimsy?

Serve heart-shaped sweets

Add love-themed sweet treats throughout your dessert station display. Think heart-shaped cookies, choose cake flavours like red velvet or strawberry shortcake, so that each slice has a hint of colour. Serve other decadent desserts such as chocolate-dipped fruits, macarons, or miniature chocolate cakes drizzled with raspberry syrup. You can also make for a fun goodie bag that your guests can take with them at the end of the night.

Include heart-shaped props, signs, and displays

Create a themed escort card display to help guests find their seats or have neon signs to showcase messages of love. Add a little heart to welcome and directional signs.

Romantic music

There’s a good chance the song for your first dance will be a sentimental one, but to keep the romantic mood going all night long, ask your guests to share their favourite love songs when completing their RSVP cards. Adding some of those tunes to your playlist is a great way to honour loved ones and help them relive their favourite memories.

Getting married during the month of love is ultimate romance. Create your love story with a love-themed wedding to celebrate your love with your loved ones.

Let your bridal party embrace the theme by dressing in red.
Have guests write notes for the heart-themed guestbook.
Make a statement with heart shaped wedding jewelry.
