Clothes vendor charged in 2021 murder of Denham Town woman
ST ANDREW, Jamaica— Detectives assigned to the St Andrew South Police Division have charged a 28-year-old man after he allegedly murdered a woman and injured a child on Maxfield Avenue, Kingston on Tuesday, August 3, 2021.
The deceased has been identified as 31-year-old Tashana Roper otherwise called ‘Munchie’, of Goffe Way in Denham Town, Kingston 14.
Charged with murder, conspiracy to murder, wounding with intent, illegal possession of firearm, illegal possession of ammunition and shooting with intent, is Cruse Nation, a clothes vendor of Ken Hill Drive in Kingston.
Reports from the Hunts Bay Police are that about 3:50 pm, Roper and the child were travelling in a motorcar along Maxfield Avenue when Nation and an accomplice drove up beside them and opened gunfire hitting them.
The police were alerted and Roper and the child were taken to hospital where Roper was pronounced dead and the child was admitted for treatment.
An investigation was launched and Nation was arrested. He was charged after an interview in the presence of his attorney.
Police added that about 7:25 pm, on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, Nation’s accomplice was fatally shot during a confrontation with the police.
