KINGSTON, Jamaica – Lamara Distin improved on her national women’s indoor high jump record while Nevasky Anderson broke the men’s 800m record at NCAA indoor meets in the US on Saturday.

Distin of Texas A&M University, who also holds the national outdoor mark, jumped 1.97m to win the event at the Tiger Paw Invitational at Clemson University, beating the 1.94m mark she set last month at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic.

The mark was also a facility record, beating the 1.91m set by St Lucian Levern Spencer in 2019, and is the College leading mark so far this year.

Anderson of Mississippi State University ran 1:46.58 to win the 800m at the Music City Challenge hosted by Vanderbilt University to beat the 27 year-old national record of 1:46.70 seconds set by Alex Morgan in Indianapolis in 1996.

Anderson, who broke Seymour Newman;’s outdoor 800m record last year, lowered his time from the 1:49.88 seconds he set in 2021 and is the second fastest ever in the South-Eastern Conference (SEC) and fifth in the NCAA so far this year.

Meanwhile, triple jumper Owayne Owens of the University of Virginia won his second straight title of the year, jumping 16.59m at the Tiger Paw event on Saturday.
