Mandeville-based K&T Development has embarked on the construction of a second business process outsourcing (BPO) facility in Manchester, for which ground was recently broken by Prime Minister Andrew Holness.

The announcement of the new facility follows K&T Development’s recent divestment of its first BPO property on Ward Avenue in Mandeville. Proceeds from the sale were used to repay a loan from the Development Bank of Jamaica.

The company now turns its attention to constructing a 100,000 square-foot facility in the same locale. The project will be financed by National Commercial Bank to the tune of over US$8 million.

Speaking on behalf of K&T Development, attorney Phillip Paulwell stated that his client is “excited at continuing to being a major player in the ICT/BPO business and wants to be the largest player in Mandeville. They will be doing other major projects in the space. Watch out for other announcements soon in this regard”.

A real estate development company owned by Mandeville businessman Kenneth Black, K&T Development’s first construction of BPO office space was in 2015 when it started on building an 80,000 square-foot facility that would eventually house almost 2,000 Sutherland Global employees in the capital of Manchester.

The company has, however, sold the property to a consortium for an undetermined sum of money and will use the proceeds to liquidate its foreign currency loans from the DBJ amounting to just over a billion dollars. The consortium will, however, maintain the lease with Sutherland Global.
